Connecticuts second annual Celiac Walkathon is scheduled for
May 14, 2005.
In addition to the Walk, we'll have a picnic, games and activities for
the kids, the raffle and fellowship.
With Walk 2004, we were able to apply money raised to support celiac
research, promote celiac awareness, and support our group members through educational (and
recreational for the kids) programming. In 2005, we also will develop two scholarships for
Connecticut children planning on attending Camp Celiac in Rhode Island. One will be based
on need, and the other on merit, for a child or youth who lives the "Celiacs helping
celiacs" mantra.
Our goal for 2005 is to surpass the money raised in 2004 ($24,000)
and the number of attendees (300). For those of you who missed the walk this year, many
described it like a big family reunion it was so much fun! Mark your calendars now,
and invite your friends and family. We also want more people to get involved !
Things you can do:
-Help get corporate sponsors. If you have a connection or an idea,
please contact Loretta.
-Solicit raffle prizes for the picnic. Ask merchants from whom you
buy.
-WALK! Form a team; get pledges from friends
and family. Don't forget Corporate Matching Funds. If you can't walk, try to
get donations anyway.
